How can I tell who deleted all the files in one of my shares on a windows 2003 member server? We are running Active Directory 2003 as well and do not have auditing enabled.

Software/Hardware used:
Windows server 2003, ad 2003

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Without auditing software you will not be able to tell unfortunately. If those who have access are unwilling to confess there isn’t anything that will tell you.

Yeah, and at this point what good is it going to do to know WHO caused the problem, unless you plan on some dramatic measures to insure it does NOT happen again. At least I would educate all my users the correct procedures for saving/deleting files either one or a batch, and to make sure there is a BU just in case. I mean there IS a solid reason why most of us shout from the rooftops every hour of every day: Back up, Back up BACK UP, before you do anything else.
