It would depend on the service which you are clustering, but typically the failed transaction would be rolled back, and the next command would then be picked up by the database server.
Mr Denny, could you explain your statement, “the failed transaction would be rolled back, and the next command would be picked up by the database server”. Does this mean the transaction that was in process when the failure occured gets completed by the server failed over to or is that transation lost, and the server failed over too, picks up the next transaction.
I am really trying to determine if a failover does or does not have an impact on the people using the neywork. Is a failover the same as a failure prevented from failing, or did the failure cause a transaction not to be completed? Jim4522
