I'm sorry to hear that u r a recession victim. But never mind u've selected very right career. According to me the best module in sap for u is CRM (Customer Relationship Management). U'll find that is the highest paid package in Sap and very very HOT in the market now. You are having very strong domain Exp which is needed. So becoming a CRM Functional Consultant would be more preferable.
Wherever u go please look which institute is providing WebClient, Service, Internet Sales and Mobile Sales. These are the components of CRM and you'll find more openings on these. Before taking admission please check their system whether these component's screen is opening or not. Apart from this, ISU, IS retail, IS Oil are in huge demand in US right now. Personally if u ask me then I'll suggest you to look for S.S.Technology in New Delhi, India.
Certification is not an ideal thing to do at the begining.
