IMO, those companies (or the hiring people) who focus on degrees and certs have little knowledge of the real work to be done.

When I interview prospective employees or contractors, I am looking for skills. I ask detailed questions about specific topics. If the interviewee can talk intelligently about the topic, then he is hired.

So I suggest you practice being able to discuss your knowledge and not just point to your degree.

I also have the same problem, in my country the first step to getting a good job in a Degree, but I have a Advance diploma in IT, I am now following the Cisco Path, but I am also worried if I should go do a degree. But for me I think I will just follow the Cisco path and become an expert.

I am working towards CCIE now after years in the business. All its going to do though is back up the experience I have.

To me, experience speaks volumes!!

Besides degrees and certifications, you will need work experience.

Education might not be enough to get (or hold) a good job.
