I am interested in completing certification as a CCNA after/while finishing up a two year degree to help my prospects. Both degrees are offered at local technical colleges (not commercial) that are certified by Cisco as a training partner in their program. I have looked through both course offerings, and I am not quite sure which would help me out more. I plan to tour the colleges next week. So which one is best? Any help is appreciated. As for experience, I am hoping to find volunteer/internship work after my first year which will hopefully help me break into the field. Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

I have had a (quick) look at both the options you posted. I would advise the second one if you want to go into a networking career, as it has more focus on the aspects of this topic. The first one has more general IT skills and content, as well as the network stuff, so would be better if you need this broader knowledge, and possibly opens up more choices.

Both look to offer the CCNA as part of the curriculum, which will be a useful thing to have. Make sure you do the Cisco CCNA exam as well. A lot of these courses offer the academy course, and only mark internally and the academy based exams, but not the final one done at a VUE testing centre.

In the end, choosing either will be good, so go for the one with the prettier girls (or boys !) :-)

Good Luck with the studies.
