I've heard it recommended to place the tempdb on its on own drive. Regarding the tempdb log file specifically, should it be on a different disk than the mdf or ndf files of the tempdb?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

This depends on the kind of load that you will be putting the tempdb database under. If you are using all very small transactions then you won’t get much benefit from putting it on it’s own drive. However if you are doing lots of large transactions and moving lots of data into the tempdb at one time then having the ldf on it’s own drive can improve performance.
