That only happens (so far!) to me in FF. The editor inserts <BR> tags when you press Enter in FF, but IE inserts actual paragraph and end-paragraph tags. I haven't tried recently, but FF won't even let you insert your own paragraph tags. Worse, the <BR> tags don't even work, which is why you don't get new-lines and there's no white-space between the sentences. When I want to have multiple paragraphs, I open IE for the comment (which is really irritating), especially since I might have to refresh the page half a dozen times before the edit functions work n IE. -- Tom

This is a recent change ..  But perhaps it's something I did .. like adding odd quotes to threads..or getting ie updates.

I'm seeing a recurring need to refresh in IE 8 (WinXP SP3) often multiple times before editing works cleanly, and sometimes before it works at all. FF (currently 18.0.1) always works immediately, but never provides paragraph breaks. This latest IE issue is a week old, maybe less. Once the page loads in IE without any "Page error" messages flashing on the status line, it always works. -- Tom

Selected comments have them. They'll have multiple paragraphs or copied quotes or code lines. If it's just a flat comment, I stay in FF.   But if I want to split off a paragraph, I have to work the comment in IE.   Tom

Hi guys - we have seen this issue before (I remember Carlos mentioning it), but for a while it was fixed. We'll bring it back up with development to see why it's popping up again in IE and FF.

Yes, it worked well for some time, but it's back. Like Tom, y mostly use FF, but when I need to add line breaks, I move to IE (where I sometimes find toolbar issues, or highlighting errors).

Ah, but even in IE, I don't get the line breaks automatically.  I need to edit the code and add the <BR>s by hand (which doesn't have any effect on FF).  This is a second paragraph test.

Thanks for all the updates everyone! We'll pass all of this information to our development team so they can find the main source of the problem.

Well, the edit icons are back in FF. Carriage returns still don't seem to work (in FF). Selecting the 'Style' icon to set 'P'aragraph style seems to work as long as you're editing the text; but as soon as you click 'Add to...', the paragraph formatting disappears and lines run together. If I click 'Show source', I see the same formatting characters in FF as I see in Chrome. But they actually seem to work in Chrome. Tom

Odd... If I press 'Show source' and actually put a carriage return between the </p> end tag of a paragraph and the <p> tag of the next, it seemed to make a difference.Tom

I left it out last time. I'll put it in this time. Tom

I've been using Chrome today rather than FF. Carriage returns have been very difficult to get to work, more difficult as the day has gone by it seems. And Chrome (in "incognito" mode) was my preferred browser for anything that required using the editor icons before today.) The little resizing widget in the lower right of the input box is also completely gone now that the icons are back.Tom
