We believe that virtualization makes sense for most if not all organizations. We have solutions depending on what scenarios are important for you to support. For organizations interested in lowering costs; increasing security and compliance; delivering on flexibility and continuity, virtualization may be a consideration as part of an overall desktop strategy. Microsoft’s desktop virtualization strategy is about desktop management. Our desktop management strategy helps customers centrally manage desktop environments with more flexibility, secure critical business data with better IT controls, leverage existing investments and allows end-users to be productive from everywhere. As a result, Microsoft offers a broad portfolio of desktop virtualization technologies, helping customers virtualize applications, data and settings, and the operating system. Integrated management tools are central to this strategy, so IT professionals can optimize desktops, lower the cost of desktop management, and provide end user productivity.

One place it makes sense in my environment to virtualize desktops is at nursing stations. Our nurses do not have their own individual login and therefore have no need to save information to the computer. They work with applications to which all data is saved in a database on servers, so virtual desktops make a lot of sense for them.
