When Outlook 2007 tries to connect to the Exchange Server, it will take about 30 minutes to an hour before is says “Connected to Exchange Server”.
I have some Outlook 2007 users who when they try to connect to Exchange Server 2003, it will thake them 30 to 60 minutes to connect to the Exchange server. While it is trying to connect, you will see that it is trying to connect or it will saw that exchange is disconnected. I have 5 users that this is happening to and we can not find a solution. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Answer Wiki:
Check the outlook configuration , whether is it MAPI/ POP3/ RPC/HTTP.., and also check the mail box size of those particular users. Try to reconfigure the outlook profile and also check system DNS and IP address details..if everything is fine. then do the follwing step. 1. add exchange server IP address or Host name in Host file (c:WINDOWSsystem32driversetchosts) then u will be able to connect the server faster

Also look for any delegations that may no longer be with the company, I had the same issue with a couple of email users, and it was because they had or were email delegates to users who were no longer with the company . I hope this helps you out.
