Been using a product called InfoStage I purchased through ISSI DataVault. www.issidatavault.com Backs up the ESX server and clients to a disk array at another site. I think they will also backup your ESX server to their own T4 data center for a fee. Real simple restores.

i create daily backups of my VMs from one ESX to another ESX server using – works fine and it’s free…

I have used VCB on VMware 3.5 and 3.0. Also, what I find easiest to implement is just to put your standard Backup software agent on the virtual machine. This is especially useful if you are in an environment where the backup solution is managed separately from the VMware and server environment. We have put the Netbackup and also the Tivoli agent on VM’s and performed standard client/server backups for the past three years.
