Q:
What software to create Internal Knowledge Sharing site?
I have been asked to create an Internal Knowledge Sharing web site. Something everyone can contribute to and search for answers on. So I need to find a bit of software to start this on. I am looking for something very similar to what this site uses. Our requirements:

1. Open Source.
2. Simple to setup and use.
3. RSS Feeds or some subcription option.
4. Not a lot of customization required.
5. Integrate with our LDAP directory.

Of course we have no budget.

So I am looking for suggestions.

No I have not seen that. It is a good link thank you.

I am just not sure where to go with this one. I am not completely sure if I need a wiki or a blog or…

Well we built this site using mediawiki and wordpress and they both have great functionality.

MediaWiki is a good choice. To take the advantage of SSO (Single Sign On) and integration with Exchange and Outlook, try giving SharePoint Services a shot.

Thanks.

Wikimedia or TikiWiki looks like our starting point.

We do not use Exchange or Outlook and we do not have the Microsoft infrastructure to support Shrepoint. No Active Directory hence the LDAP requirement. For now the cost to implement AD is more than we want to spend.
