I appreciate the additional encouragement…. I have found that after an initial “OMG” period I am getting back into the swing of things.

Just looking ahead to make sure I don’t end up quite so “behind” again.

An old boss of mine who I was using as a reference got rather put out on my behalf at people who didn’t even want to consider me due to the work gap. He stated ” you may have gotten rusty – but you didn’t get stupid”. He always was one of my favorites. (He said if he had a position open he would hire me himself). I find the logic and the business knowledge still applies.

Whatever you do, don’t let it get you down. I work for a small company and the last 4-6 years, have been doing more support of their POS systems and users/Networking. I recently was assigned a programming project (first time in a long time other then light mainteance work) and took a long time to get back in the swing of it.

We had started the move from RPGIII to RPG ILE (although mostly through automated conversions) and just figuring out how to debug with out the interactive debugger was a chore. I feel I have a lot of catch up to do now. LOL!

I’d recommend adding HTML and PHP to your skill set.
With Zend now available on the AS/400, these skills open up some nice options for you and your users.
