What is the use of Linux and unix in SAP and how is it advantageous when Netweaver xi is learnt


NetWeaver, SAP, Unix, Linux

that is the only detail i know abt them i am trying to research on few things to understand better

SAP ABAP (what used to be R3) and SAP J2EE (the relatively new java engine) need an operating system to run in. Most SAP products will run on Linux, most variants of UNIX, Windows XP pro and Windows server, on the AS/400 etc.

XI is a message processing system, where the message comes from one system, via XI, to another system. The advantage of knowing something about the operatings sytem when learning XI is that you will have an idea of the data transfer mechanisms issues .
