This field is another security method that is used in Lotus Notes.... this is on top of ID , Server Access, Acess control - you now have the ability to state if someone of people in a group can even see the documnet. This is where the read / author fields come into play. warning - when using these fields for security make sure the server/s are in the field otherwise replication will not happen becuase the server will not be able to read the documents either.
2) what is the major deference between Replace design and Refresh Design?
A replace Design is to take a DB and completely over write the Design with another - simple
A refresh design is basically telling the DB to go find its template that it inherits from and check that it is correct.
3) what $Conflict field contains ? what is value in side that field ?
When two changes are made at the same time to a document (the indented number for this change would match) and these two documents replcate a conflict is created. The $conflict field = 1 would mean the document is a conflict document. check out the link below for an explanation.

I have reader access to an application in Lotus Notes 7 . when I click a button in the document, I can fill in values in a combo box .But when I save the document I am unable to save it and it throws the error “You Donot have the access for the same”Why does this happen ?Two things seems contradictory
1)I am able to edit the document
2)I am able to fill in the combobox.
Why does this happen?
Check and see if you are not only a reader to the document but stated as the document owner? If the document administrator. This would mean you can have depositor access to the DB and still edit the document.
It is likely that the Developer of the database will be able to explain things better because there are also things called roles that can be in play here. ie the added Roles would state you can change some fields but not others. The domino directory is a very good demonstration for this as you can have editor access and only have 1 or 2 roles and you cant change all the documents. This is a very powerful way of deleal with access and control
