What is the process for upgrading a domain from Windows server 2003 to Windows Server 2008? Does the schema need to be extended? Is it a manual process? Is this the preferred method?
You'll need to run adprep from the Windows 2008 DVD. This will upgrade the AD schema from the Windows 2003 version to the Windows 2008 version. Then either run the upgrade process on an existing domain controller or install a new domain controller running Windows Server 2008.
