Softgrid was the product that we acquired in 2007 and it is now known as Application Virtualization (App-V) and can be purchased by companies with Windows Client SA. App-V is one of six technologies contained in the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP). App-V is an industry-leading application virtualization technology and one of the fastest growing products in the history of Microsoft. Application virtualization technology address two key issues with applications – decreasing application testing costs as in the case of migrating to a new OS such as Windows 7 and provisioning, patching and updating applications in a more seamless way•	Application virtualization decreases application testing time & cost by creating a virtual bubble around applications which eliminates application conflicts•	It also eliminates the cumbersome app install process by turning applications into data that can be streamed down to the desktop and then run offline or online. Microsoft believes that regardless of what your desktop virtualization strategy is, you should virtualize your applications to realize immediate cost savings.
