Sir :

Our 3rd party vendor is requesting the ff :

[em]      Please provide at least one month information about performance data in the AS400. You may request IBM to setup and activate the Performance Tool for AS/400. Data collection need to be in the interval of 5 minutes.[/em]

This is really new to me. What is this Performance Tool for AS/400. How do i check if this is installed in my machine. Can i activate this if i have the authority as what is mentioned above, or do i have to call IBM for activation. Hope to be clarified on this one. Thanks.

Software/Hardware used:

For V5R3, Performance Tools is 5722PT1, but you probably don't want to use that product. Your 3rd-party vendor is likely thinking of PM/400. I'm not sure why though. If your system hasn't been doing any performance monitoring, it probably hasn't been configured to collect meaningful data. Anyway, review the Performance topic in the V5R3 Information Center to start getting familiar with some of the elements. With V5R3 out of IBM support, you won't want to get IBM to do much for you. After some basic familiarity, review the GO PM400 menu. Use the system {help} to learn more about what the options do. There are a few other performance functions available in the system, but I'd want to know what the 3rd-party vendor is trying to learn before going in any direction. A month's worth of data when there's no definition of what it should consist of seems unusual. If your system doesn't have basic work management appropriately configured first, any performance data may be misleading. Tom

Sir, we have the performance tool installed in our i-series servers and with the help of our i-series distributor support, was able to extract the data the 3rd party needed. The performance data they were requesting is to come up with a "Health check" to our i-series server because the one running our production batch is taking to long to run end of day batch and our application unit head is referring this problem back to the 3rd party vendor. I was already able to provide the performance data they needed and copied this to a blank dvd. it's already up to the 3rd party vendor on how to extract this data. thanks for your advice.
