MCH1202 error message
From an externally define file I bring in an S9(7) comp-3 value that is a date. In the program I call the date function to get the current date. Move it to a S9(7) comp-3 field and then compare them to be equal. EVALUATE TRUE WHEN PACKED-DATE = DHIVNB do... Bang I get hit with the MCH1202 error message which you find little to no info about. Doesn't AS/400 support an error message list somewhere with some detail as to how to solve this problem? For as simple as this looks there has to be an easy solution. You have to make this kind of comparison all of the time. So if anyone can help I sure would appreciate it.

Hi,

To see the text associated with an OS message just do

dspmsgd mch1202

In your case it seems that one of those fields have invalid packed data in it.

When you get the error, arrow up to it and hit F1. This will give you the error description. Then hit F10 to see any previous errors.

I can’t remember if it is the first or second screen that gives you the line number of your program where the error occurs.

To see the line number and program name it’s necessary to hit F9 after F1.
