When Microsoft requires you to provide a "friendly name" when configuring a client, what does that mean? What does a friendly name do?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

A friendly name is something a human can easily read and remember instead of a code or a numeric address/identifier.

An example would be a host’s name as opposed to its ip address, or a process name as opposed to its CLSID.

There is a local car dealership named Friendly Chevrolet. Would that be a "friendly name?"
