During last week's 2013 Amazon Web Services Summit, RightScale's senior cloud solutions architect Brian Adler said more enterprises are moving their applications and functions to the cloud via 'hybrid IT architecture.' Hybrid IT allows companies to expand their architecture though multiple cloud providers and one or more on-premises IT environments. What do you make of the 'hybrid IT' movement?

That’s a wide open question. From the perspective of working with consultants, I really enjoyed that environment. I could be set up almost instantly. Saves the time of rebuilding a machine with IT configurations on it. It was also helpful in keeping employees’ desktops virtual as well for later use.

This direction is one that more and more companies will take. The Cloud is nothing new, IT users have been using the cloud for years. it is just a new cool buzzword. There are benefits to the hybrid IT that companies are trying to leverage. Good luck to us all.

I think this is a fine approach. It's what many of my clients are doing with good results. The thing you don't want to do is put all of your eggs in one vendor's basket.
