It could be any number of things. Attack by an outsider, bug in the router OS, over heating, etc.
Without more information it is hard to tell, however, likely causes could likely be a failing component like a WIC or NIC, bad RAM, or a misconfiguration that isn't supported on the router OS.
Please provide more specifics on when this is occuring.
