Yes! Let’s talk about this…
There is a LOT of valuable information in enterprises that is NOT stored in index-able content. Its PEOPLE… what they know the projects they’re working on, their interests, what THEY have searched for, what they’ve commented on…

If I’m a user looking for information on X, I only can search *content*. Now with Sp2010 I can find out that there are people who might have the answers I need. That all starts with social behavior and social content…. users posting comments, tagging documents, etc. Imagine your favorite social site (e.g. Facebook). SharePoint now integrates that functionality. You can post “status” (I’ve seen clients use this in VERY clever and valuable ways), which create an “activity feed”, and you have friends (colleagues) that are determined by organizational relationships and by you adding them (“friending”).

Same thing with CONTENT… you can build a community with information and feeds around a TAG. So if we tag content with “BIG PROJECT”, we can actually monitor feeds on that content, across our enterprise. And one of my favorite “little things” is social bookmarking. A user can tag an EXTERNAL web resource, and thereby make it visible (by the tag) in my enterprise. Imagine how good that can be for research, competitive analysis, etc. The list goes on…. I’m a SUPER big fan of social in 2010.
