MS Excel 2003 and 2007 crash when handling oversized spreadsheets. The RAM memory is 4 gig and has plenty of memory. The machine is running Windows XP Pro. The spreadsheets have many calculations and formulas and have been set to Manual. Also have tried the 'control-end' on each sheet to no avail. The book consist of over 9000 rows.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Try copying them to a flash drive and opening them on another computer if that is possible. That will let you know if it is local to the machine application or not. If it is local to that pc only, repair the office installation. Uninstall/reinstall the office suite if the repair does not fix it.
Also make sure you have installed all available service packs and rollups for the microsoft office suite.
