What accounts for the trend toward SMB security?

Security Channel, Channel, Security for SMBs

Our expert on SearchSecurityChannel.com says the natural consolidation of both technology and solution providers means that competition for named accounts and big-ticket items is fierce. As a result, the SMB security market is becoming more popular than ever. Has that been your experience?

Agreed to Christopher, he has put the contents in SMB security in a very convincing and interesting manner. UTM is ultimately the call of the day not only for SMB but for any sized organizations, I would say. Earlier these solutions were available in scattered manner by different vendors with different architecture. SMBs never thought of going for them because of complexity of the solutions, volumes of solutions and the cost factor. It was limited to large organizations with strong IT infrastructure, to handle and define the rule sets/ configuration requirements for each of the solution. But with the increase of SMBs, increase in threats and vulnerabilities, increase in demand for strong infrastructure to grab business etc., UTM took birth and is successful too.

UTMs have definitely decreased complexity, cost, vendor involvement/dependency and increased the reliability, and it is going to be the future for all sized organizations.
