 Webpage for Braille
Hi,
Please find the details below.
  • We have a website running already (developed with Microsoft Asp.NET technology)
  • Now, the requirement is that, a blind user, using Braille keypad/devices must be able to use this website.
The question is, what's needed for a website to support this? Please suggest.
Thanks in advance,
Bhavnik

Answer Wiki:
Since a blind person cannot see the webpage they need to be able to touch something or have sounds. I worked with a blind programmer years ago and he had a braille printer. For a website, you have have to have sounds when someone hoovers over the screen.

I would have to agree with CharlieBrown, a braille type printer would be the best bet, but, I also see a problem that it would cost a lot of money and time in just producing the printouts, especially when doing a search.  What about something like a touch screen where the user can point to different quadrants of the screen and it speaks the contents.

You might do best to visit the International Braille and Technology Center for the Blind (IBTC) site. They can help with procedures to develop web sites for the blind. — Tom
