 WEB enabling SAP GUI in SAP WAS 6.40

Hi The base requirement is to web enable SAP ABAP reports. We are on SAP WAS release 6.40. As ITS is now integrated with this release, I need to know the settings / steps to be taken to web enable SAP GUI. I found out that there is a service /BC/GUI in the ICF of the SAP WAS 6.40 framework which needs to be enabled to do the same. But I could not find this service in the SICF. Does this service come along with a particular hotfix or service pack installation ?

Hi, To activate the SAP WebGui service (SAPGUI for HTML) in SAP WAS 6.40: 1) Make sure the HTTP service is running and note the port number (I think the default is 8001). Txn SMICM, then pushbutton "services" (3rd from the left). 2) Activate the webgui service. Txn SICF, navigate to default_host -> sap -> bc -> gui -> sap -> its -> webgui. Right-click webgui and "activate service". 3) You should then be able to test the service. Right-click webgui then "test service". Enter username/pswd, and voila! The URL for the webgui will be: http://<fully_qualified_hostname>:<http_port>/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui/!

Could anyone tell me how does the Webgui looks like in WAS 6.40? Does it provide screens that we have in SAP ERP. Or we need to create our own GUI using the services.

We are now evaluating the WAS 6.40.

I am trying to activate the SAP WebGui service (SAPGUI for HTML) :

1) Txn SMICM, then pushbutton “services” (3rd from the left).
2) Activate the webgui service. Txn SICF, navigate to default_host -> sap -> bc -> gui -> sap -> its -> webgui. Right-click webgui and “activate service”.

When I try to activate the service, Its seen as already active, but when I test it, it throws a Handler error. I am testing this on IDES. Are there any restrictions and if there is a way to fix this.
