Q:
WDSC 7.0 - How to share settings between 2 pc's?
Hi all,  i'm using wdsc 7.0 on my laptop and loving it.  i also have it installed on a desktop pc, but when i try to work from my desktop all my settings, filters, etc are, of course, not there.  i've been searching for i nfo on how to share those settings so they are available to both machines, but am not having any luck.  can anyone point me in the right direction?

thanks, rick metzger

Hi,

You can try one of 2 things:

1. Save your wdsc workspace to a pen drive and connect it to the computer you're going to use before starting wdsc;

2. Export your filters, settings, etc to xml and import them to your desktop. The problem here is keeping things syncronized - everytime you change something in one of your machines, you'll have to re-export / re-import stuff.

rvp, thanks for the advice. i saved my workspace to a shared network drive, then switched my workspace to look at that shared one, and it worked fine.

now i’m wondering: Are shops with multiple programmers managing individual WDSC environments so that everyone see’s the same, or at least a similar, workspace? It seems to me that there would be advantages to be had using this approach, rather than having each developer completely doing his/her own thing. would anyone like to comment on this? i’d appreciate hearing various ideas.

thanks everyone in advance,
rick metzger
