How to reboot Toshiba laptop

When turned on it tells me need boot disk, disk drive doesn't work.

Most likely your hard drive failed or the connection possibly came lose (unlikely). Another possibility is the BIOS got corrupted and changed the boot sequence of your computer. If you do have a boot-able OS on CD/DVD you may want to try booting from that. If you are not comfortable opening up the laptop  to check the drive, you may be best to take it to a repair shop.

    Assuming here disk drive meant hard drive. Probably the HDD is damaged/OS is not properly installed. Insert OS setup disk (Windows/Linux/Mac) whatever you have and try to install the same. Another point is that virus might also cause behind this issue. If that case, you have to check for viruses also.
