They are two completely different animals. There are so many differences it would take a book to list them all. What exactly do you want to know about? I think the performance of TSM is far superior to the Veritas product but some of that may be due to our tape library used with the Veritas backups which performs poorly. The setup is completely different. You have to manually configure a lot more with TSM and you can't do multiple installs easily like you can with the Veritas product. Installing TSM on a cluster or for sql or exchange takes a LOT of manual configuration. Definitely not a simple process. Once installed the TSM product runs great in my opinion, but I am sure there are many just as happy with the Veritas system.
