 VPN problem
Hello!I can connect directly from my cable modem to my laptop, browse the internet fine, then connect to my vpn and within 13 seconds it freezes everything. It still says I am connected to the vpn and internet however I cannot browse the internet at all. I then disconnect the vpn and immediately I can browse the internet. This vpn connection is through my work and I have one laptop and one personal computer and they both are having this issue. I have tried a neighbors cable with my laptop and the same issue happened which tells me it is not my connection on this side. My work IT dept cannot figure it out. I do have a wireless router and voiceover IP phone however during all my testing this problem was still occuring when I bypassed them (wall-modem-laptop still had problem). However both wireless router and phone work perfectly when connected. I recently moved my office which entails my laptop & phone and had to reconnect everything but this should not be an issue since I am still having this issue directly. Help! On day 2 of this so I'd appreciate any assistance!

Answer Wiki:
Is this a PPTP connection that you have created for your VPN connection to the office or is this a VPN client you are using to access your work? Do you know if your office is forcing your internet traffic through your VPN connection and out through your office? Or do they allow your internet traffic to still go through your cable modem connection and just traffic to the office equipment goes through the VPN?

Go to your VPN connection. On the networking tab, select TCP/IP and click on properties. Click on `Advanced?. On the `General? tab on the advanced screen, de-select `Use default gateway on remote network?.
