Q:
VNC without or with domain
I want to setup vnc over adsl and some 3g connections over a distance on several computers.
Is it needed to configure them as domain controllers or can they be connected just like that?
Can someone please help me with the connection setup etc.

Tnx

Toit

A domain is not needed to use VNC. However, you should use SSH tunneling for VNC if possible to encrypt sessions. VNC passwords are weak and adding the SSH tunneling would enhance security. The VNC documentation may describe this configuration or it is available using this Google search

Have you considered PCoIP instead of VNC? PCoIP technology delivers an exceptional user experience over IP networks (LAN and WAN). The longest test done so far is 8,000Km including video and the user was thrilled (was an oil & gas application including remote video).
Samsung has a zero client that implements PCoIP - Here is a video to give you an idea of the 3D graphics and HD video performance of the Samsung 930ND - all delivered over a standard IP network http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzGmwNIpFG4

How far away is the remote desktop?

Have you also considered something like Logmein, GoToMyPC, or Laplink PC connect? There are free versions or paid version with more options (file transfer). Also look at Logmein Hamachi, a SSL VPN
