VMware Server 2.0 on Linux machines

Virtualization, VMware, VMware Server, VMWare Server 2.0, VMware on Linux, VMWare MUI, Red Hat Enterprise Linux

I'm experiencing a problem with VMware Server on a Linux machine. I've installed VMware Server 2.0 and the VMware MUI on a Linux 64-bit server. I am able to bring up the web access GUI and enter the user "root" and the password for "root", but I am getting the following error:

"The server was unable to process your log in request. Please check with your server administrator".

This response comes courtesy of virtualization expert Rick Vanover:

For Linux installations, the root login is permitted to log into VMware Server's Web Access by default. VMware Web Access, however, may not be running correctly based on the information provided. In such a case, Web Access can be restarted by the vmware-webAccess restart command. If the issue should persist, a re-install to a current version of VMware Server would be a good idea. I would also recommend checking the VMware Communities site, and search based on log messages from the Web Access processes.
