VMWare ESX vmachine as BE 12 server

ESX, SCSI, VMware ESX, VCB

@ my facility, I have a Dell 2950 running ESX 3.5. It is hosting 4 VMs, 1 XP and 3 W2K3 servers. On average it is utilized about 1/3 of it capability. I want to use on of the W2K3 VMs to run BackupExec 12 on to back up my server rack to a PowerVault 124T. I plan on using an Adaptec 29160 as the SCSI controller which VMWare says ESX 3.5 supports. I have heard that some people have had performance problems with older versions of ESX talking to a SCSI tape drive.. Does anyone have any thoughts, comments, etc on this?
