Are there any guides available for converting from VMware ESX 3.5i to VM Workstation? I keep running into errors on the export and I think I should start over from the beginning. Any tips or resources would be a huge help.

If just want move a VM from ESX to Workstation - just use converter to convert to a workstation VM.

Either use vConverter (agent or clone-cd) or use fastscp to copy those files to where vm workstation has access to it and then you can run the converter tool of that as well.
