vlan with Cisco 1802 and Linksys SRW2024
Hi, my customer has a linksys SRW2024 connected to a Cisco1802 on FE1. The Cisco1802 is connencted through the FE0 port to a DSL modem. Everything is working fine accept now they want to create several VLAN's on the Linksys-switch. For this to work i have to create a trunk beteween the cisco and the linksys. The question for now is if this is possible. Some people told me this isn't possible and others say it is. So now i'm confused. i have located this http://happyrouter.com/free-video-how-to-configure-vlan-in-the-cisco-ios instruction. but i guess that's only for cisco <-> cisco If someone has an answer or i you need more information any help is welcome. kind regards, Mark

Answer Wiki:
I have seen this issue with the Linksys equipment. It is basically "Cisco-lite" and the feature set is limited. We had issues with VLAN trunking and POE to Cisco IP phones. I would recommend getting a more robust managed switch to support VLAN trunking.

Hi Labnuke99,

that’s what i’m afraid of. But of course not the answer i’m looking for at the moment.

i want to be sure this isn’t going to work OR with some ( or a lot of ) effort this can be done/

switching to a more robust managed switch will be a money issue.
