Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Which actual switch model do you have, if we know this then we can give more accurate information back.

.9 is not a subnet, so can you also please provide a little more information about the IP addressing you are going to use, and why. If we understand this, again we may be able to suggest a better solution, or it will help tailor the response to your situation.

Lastly, you need to be aware, that the VLANs will not be able to communicate with each other, unless you have a VLAN capable, or multi port, router or layer 3 switch, that can do the routing between them. One of the big advantages of VLANs is that they are completely separate from each other, and no traffic from one can go to another unless it is routed.

If you can supply some of htis extra information, I am sure we can help you further.

Hello, i have Linksys SLM248G (48-Port 10/100 + 2-Port Gigabit Smart Switch). What i am trying to do is make 24 port as 192.168.0.x and the remaining 24 port as 192.168.9.x. I hope this information helps ... i have not done VLANs before, so any help with an exmaple config would help. Also, i do have another switch which is HP Networking Procurve Switch 2650 J4899C. I want to setup a VLAN for that one if possible. Thanks
