Yes, i haven’t tried that with astarobut I believe that UTM firewalls is capable of doing that. Well, I’m not very sure of Astaro firewall, there are other firewall brands that I am sure of, from routing vlan to vlan, like sonicwall or netasq UTM firewall.

try to search the net about UTM firewall for more details but for an overview, UTM firewalls serves as a router, firewall, antivirus, antispam and etc.

Since the 802.1Q is an industry standard protocol, any device that supports it will work with your Cisco switch..

the router needs to have any role in 801.q protocol handling or just routing between the valans at netwrok layer?

I guys i am setting up Inter-Vlan Routing on using a Cisco 2960 switch, a HP Pro-Curve 2610-48 switch these will be connecting to a Sonicwall Pro4060. i have configured my VLANs on the switches e.g 192.168.1.0 /24 and 192.168.2.0 /24 (just for a test environment) then on the sonicwalls interfaces i assigned IPs for them X2=192.168.1.1 and X3=192.168.2.1 I try to ping devices on both subnets from either network but i only get to the GWs .1 but beyond that i can not . i have configured routing on the sonicwall and address objects still no luck. Is there a special config i have to enble on the firewall? the end goal is to have the setup installed in a DMZ for server hosting.
