Q:
VLAN routing Cisco 2960
I have 2 VLAN  VLAN and VLAN2  in a 2960 cisco switch .I need to route betwwen VLANS .Here is my question  can I use a AASTARO firewall to route this ? or do I need cisco router? VLAN protocol is 802.1q

Yes, i haven't tried that with astarobut I believe that UTM firewalls is capable of doing that. Well, I'm not very sure of Astaro firewall, there are other firewall brands that I am sure of, from routing vlan to vlan, like sonicwall or netasq UTM firewall.

try to search the net about UTM firewall for more details but for an overview, UTM firewalls serves as a router, firewall, antivirus, antispam and etc.

the router needs to have any role in 801.q protocol handling or just routing between the valans at netwrok layer?
