vista basic and usb drives


USB device not recognzed, Thumb drive, Vista

i have a toshiba satellite a135-s2276 with microsoft windows vista basic installed. now when i insert a flash drive i get the error message usb device not recognized. can you help?

After researching this issue, it appears that M$ decided not to include the full array of drivers that they usually do. You should be able to fix this issue by doing an update on your system. If that doesn't fix the problem, I would recommend that you go the website of the flash drive manufacturer, and download the drivers (if they actually have them. Vista is supposed to support any flash drive, but this is one way to attempt to get you to buy the bigger package). I wish I could give you a better answer than that, but that is all I have.
