 *VIRTUALIP ???
Hello, I have an AS/400 with 1 Ethernet Adapter with IP XXX.1.3.87. I would like to create 2 Virtual IP addresses XXX.1.3.88 and XXX.1.3.89 so remote applications can connect to a specific IP address (for security reason) and not to the standard one XXX.1.3.87. First of all, is it possible? If yes, how can configure that? I tried for hours to configure those VIP but I'm not able to ping those from a remote computer. Any help ? Thanks in advance,

Answer Wiki:
First it is not really a virutal IP address, just an additional IP addresses from what you have described. Just go into the CFGTCP option 1 Work with TCP/IP Interfaces and add another IP address using the same Ethernet line description you used in the xxx.1.3.87 IP address. You can have multiple IP addresses assigned to the same physical line. We did this for Lotus Domino machines with each logical Domino server using its' own IP address but all going throught the same Ethernet line. For virtual ethernet that would be internal IP addresses talking to one another across LPARs. That is a different set up depending on the class of hardware you have. Let me know if you have any questions. Lovemyi

When I have worked with Virtual IP addresses, I would go into CFGTCP, create the new IP address and associate it with the local IP.
