Virtual server is running very slowly
WMWare ESX 4.0.0 We are running Softshare on a virtual server: Windows Server 2003 1 CPU 8Gb of memory This server is running very slowly and when I open Task Manager I see that Task Manager is hogging all the CPU time (91% - 100%), but when I close the Task Manager the performance doesn't improve, nor does it seem to diminish when Task Manager is open. How can I find out what the real CPU usage is? Do you have any suggestions for the slow performance? Thanks, CD

Software/Hardware used:
Windows Server 2003, SoftShare Delta/ECS

Answer Wiki:
I would suggest increase the virtual cpu`s to 2 and see how it goes, What is the specs of your ESX server? To see the actual resources consumed by the vm click on the vm in Virtual Center, then go to summary of the vm, you will see a resources block, that will be the actual resources consumed by the vm. Also make sure you vm tools is installed and up to date, this can significant performance impact on your Virtual Server, Regards
