 Virtual machine per blade server
Hi,.

Quick question, how many VM servers can you run these days on a blade server (HP or IBM bladecenters), I guess thius depends on the CPU's and memory on the blade right?

Assuming I had 8GB memory and 2 phyiscal CPU's.

The blade server would be running virtual Citrix PS4

Software/Hardware used:
Citrix PS4, IBM or HP Bladecenter

Answer Wiki:
It all depends on the workload of the VMs and the memory requirements. If each guest only need 512 Megs of RAM and has a very load CPU load requirement then you could put 15 machines per blade (leaving 512 Megs for the host OS). But if each guest needs 2 Gigs then you can only run 3 VMs per blade.

FWIW: I have an IBM BladeCenter S with 2 blades at 48G each. Each blade has 13 servers, and I still have memory and CPU available.
