Virtual Desktop Infrastructure for OS X Leopard?

I've got VMware Server 1.06 running on Suse 10. I downloaded DiscCloud VMware Appliance and got a OS X Leopard desktop working in about 15 minutes. However, I can't get the virtual appliance working on ESX. Does it have to be converted? Does anyone know how to do this?

First check out the appliance and see if it is ESX compaitble, if not easiest route is to use the ESX convertor tool to import the VM from server into ESX, you can do this through variious methods, if you have VirtualCenter then this would be easist, dependant on version is a plugin (2.5), a CD or choose the ESX server right click and choose import (2.5 update 2).

if you have the standalaone version of convertor then use the installable version and point it to the VM.

Outside of VMware try Visioncore products or platespin Powerconvert if you have it.

hey artisian guild,

i was able to get disccloud running on a cheap emachine box that we have booted via usb on esxi.

esxi requires your files to be in ovf format so all you have to do is download the ovftool from the vmware web site and convert the .vmx file over to ovf.

remember, the ovftool is a command line tool so all you do is just go into your directory where you have the .vmx file you want to convert and run this cmd;

ovftool “somefile”.vmx “newfile”.ovf

once you’ve done that, all you need to do is just copy the file to your esx host via the vi client (which runs only in windoze unfortunately.)

Iam doing my software development through desktop virtualization provided by 8KMiles <a href="http://www.8kmiles.com" title="http://www.8kmiles.(" target="_blank">www.8kmiles.com</a>) , they have lots of stacks , check whether u find a OS X stack available for your usage.
