Very Slow SPARC U450 running Sloaris 7 and Sybase ASE 12.5
My Sun Sparc U450 machine running Sybase ASE12.5 has become extremely slow after addition of a new disk, installing mutt and some restructuring of applications over the new disk. The output of sar shows nothing other than increased disk r/w activites. Can somebody provide some input on tools or ways to find the root of the problem?

Answer Wiki:
When you say "new disk," does that mean a replacement disk for an old one, or did you add a disk to a pool of existing disks (in a SAN or NAS system)?

Yes, more information is needed, was the disk part of a RAID array?

is the disk correctly identified by Solaris?

have you performat a format read/analyze on the disk?

Also, have you verified that there are no firmware updates required for the disk drive that was just installed?

(some IBM disk drives will require a firmware update).
