VB front end for Excel

I have data that is in the form of a 2D array, e.g. 20x20; I want to look up a given value, based on a set of X,Y values; I would like a front end that makes this simple for an end user. Hlookup and Vlookup in Excel are horrible to try and implent. Shouldn't it be easy to acclomplish in Visual Basic, with a dialog box that allows the user to choose the appropriat value of X (whatever they want), then Y, and return the corresponding value in this 2 dimensional array? Thanks for any help; I am a complete novice in Visual Basic, but willing to learn! RJB

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

If you dont need a sofisticated front end, you could try VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) inside Excel itself, it will be easier and lighter. You can put all controls and interface in one Worksheet and lookup for values in another worksheet. You can create a macro in Excel, do whatever you need to do save the macro and edit it, so you can see the VBA code and help yourself in doing the job. Good luck

In VB you can create a two dimensional array, like Dim arrTemp(20,20) as String then loop through to load and reference the locations in the array directly strTemp = arrTemp(3,5) Hope this helps!
