I'm trying to write a vality checking program for RSTLIB. Having problems identifying and declaring all of the parameters for the RSTLIB command. I have read somewhere there are hidden parameters that complicate the process. Has anyone ever done this or can someone point me in a direction for information on the subject? I don't know how to obtain the RSTLIB command source. Thanks.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You are trying to change a system command … I suppose you know side effects (when PTFing or upgrading). When I had to do this kind of work, I had preffered to mask the system command with my own in my syslib (the one I have put before QSYS). And I continue to uses hidden command by using it’s complete name (IE QSYS/RSTLIB) in my pgm.

From a disaster recovery or business continuity respect this course of action is problematic at best. I tested with over 200 clients and there were always serious issues recovering a system where the IBM system commands were altered. Have you thought of a way to overlay and augment the native commands rather than change them as 3rd party vendors such as Help Systems (Robot) do? Just a caution from someone who has been to the frontline.

I'll add to the concerns over trying to change IBM-supplied commands. Why? What are you needing to do that can't be done easier and more reliably with less risk by other means? Tom
