We have just had an upgrade to v5r4 OS

I have an interactive program that was converted over 1 year ago to batch, the program uses OVRDSPF to a virtual device and it was working fine before the upgrade.

In the CL i create a virtual device and then wait for it to be in a Vary on Pending state, I then use OVRDSPF for the dispaly creens with in the program and override to the virtual device that I have created.

I now find that it is impossible to get a lock on the device so the OVRDSPF command does not work. It would seem that QINTER grabs the device as soon as it is created and that this is the problem.

Answer Wiki:
Have you tried allocating the object right after after you create it? Try this prior to varying the device on and then your OVRDBF command. Then release the allocation if needed by other applications.
