I thought marketing of 5.4 ended in May 2011?

Marketing, yes — 05/27/2011 according to IBM’s current schedule.

As with most other vendors, IBM stops ‘marketing’ long before ending ‘support. Just a minor shift in focus.

As the IBM Upgrade Planning document in Cwc's answer shows, V5R4 will be supported for at least 12 months plus one day from today. There is no End-Of-Support date announced for V5R4 yet. Note 1 states:

End of program support date will be announced with at least 12 months notice prior to the effective termination date.

AFAIK, IBM hopes to have Version 8 (or perhaps 7.2) out in 2012. Tom

I just recently read and article that stated May of this year, as mentioned above. But that if enough AS400 shops scream that it may be extended.

I have the same information as YuVa47.
I did research 4 or 5 months sgao because we are on V4R5 and need incentive for management to go to V7R1.

Unfortunately I’m not remembering where I read an article about this, but what I remember was, that IBM will support V5R4 until May this year.

IBM’s stated policy is to support the current and prior versions of the OS. When 6.2 hits the streets, expect support of V5R4 to be dropped before too long.
