 V5R3 Upgrade – RJE – BSC
i5, Installation, iSeries, OS/400, PTFs, RPG
After Upgrading from V5R2 to V5R3 an old style BSC RPG program no longer functions. Does anyone know if a Licensed Program is missing or a PTF is required. Have not been able to find much info. Thanx in advance

Do you have any information on what is failing? Any error codes/messages and the job log? I'm not sure what the nettiquette on sending joblogs to this list is, but by all means if you want to send me a note directly I'll have a look. The number 1 thing that we had to watch for was issues with embedded SQL, and specifically embedded SQL using "BETWEEN" statements - this forced us (quite a while ago) to retool the SQL statements, and just recently on the same program forced us to build explicit logicals to ensure that this one program didn't keep rebuilding access paths. It cut the program exec time from 36 hours to 15 mins ;) We upgraded from 2x 830 at V5R1 to 2x i570 at V5R3, and partitioned our old 720 onto one of the newer boxes. The program that failed was a program from BPCS, which is a heavily in-house modified version of 6.0.02 Regards, Jay
