We are upgrading a 9406-270 to V5R2 from V5R1. Are there any "Gotchas" that we should be concerned about? Any other known problems or preliminary steps to take.

“I would recommend reading carefully the Preventive Service Planning (PSP) for V5R2, which is SF98076. There are a number of hardware and software issues discussed in this memo to users. Many will not apply to your model 270, but some will.

“Main storage and load source disk size requirements, plus no support for the 13GB internal tape unit, are some that come to mind. One example of changes to the operating system: By default, the system will now allow 250 libraries in the user part of the library search list, compared to the old limit of 25 libraries. This can possibly cause a problem, and there is a fix for this.
Good planning ahead of time will help insure a successful upgrade. Good luck!”
