 V5.2 SAVSECDTA Problem
I am trying to run savsecdta from V5.2 box so I can move the user profiles and authorities to a new iSeries. I have done this a thousand times and never had a probelm, but this time after the command is issued it runs for hours and hours and never finishes. Cum level is 3252520. Any ideas?

I may be sending you down the wrong road however I vaguely remember a similar problem to this some time ago. Please check the number of objects either owned or have access granted to user profiles. If my memory serves me right we had a profile that had ownership of over 500,000 IFS objects. IBM publish a list of number of maximum numbers allowed on a number of issues, please search their web for this. Hope this helps Bill ================================================================ Bill is probably on the right track. A SAVSECDTA that runs for hours is usually very busy trying to construct the logical map of all of the authorities it's trying to save. Try running PRTPRFINT SELECT(*PCTFULL) to get a better feeling for which profiles you want to examine. It might be that a few profiles have very large internal tables. Or it might be that many profiles have small but still significant internal tables. Getting a picture of the overall number of private authorities has to be the first step. If there are no clear indications of a large number of authorities, then IBM should be your next choice. Your cume level doesn't seem too far out of line, though it might be. There are a couple later packages. Further, a specific PTF might not be in a cume package -- it might just be an individual for this specific problem and only appropriate to a few systems rather than everybody. Tom
